Using Affiliate Points
Posted September 18th, 2008 by RyannjI've started to accumulate some affiliate points, but how do I use them? Can I use them to buy stuff in the Firefox Store?
monetary reward program
Posted July 16th, 2008 by web browsersOffering a t-shirt in exchange for points isn't very serious, and the top 250 links page doesn't count for much because of the nofollow tags. I think if you want to motivate existing affiliates and bring professional internet marketers on board you really need to provide a monetary reward program. Reading the other comments in these forums I see some people are asking questions like "what are the use of the points?" and "do we get paid?".
My suggestion is that affiliates should be rewarded an amount that's at least 30% of the expected 1st years average profit on each of their conversions. The soon to be discontinued adsense referral program for firefox / google toolbar combination seems to pay approximately 75c per conversion.
The payment isn't just about profit, but also about reimbursing affiliates for advertising costs in promoting firefox as well as paying due recognition to affiliates for sacrificing their precious time. A more reasonable compensation program is going to result in more time, effort and money directed towards promoting firefox.
Alternative ideas, disagreements or agreements welcome....

Memory Hog?
Posted June 24th, 2008 by Andrew0I have heard some people say that Firefox 3 really improves on the amount of memory that Firefox uses although for me this isn't the case. As I type this message Firefox is using about 195,000K of memory and has at times exceeded the 200,000K mark.

Lithuania downloads unexpected?
Posted June 18th, 2008 by fbkintanarIs there an anomaly in the data from Lithuania? Their statistics were reported to be comparable, if slightly ahead, of Estonia most of download day. Then suddenly they surged past Germany. Is there a mistake or manipulation, or a logical explanation? Who audits this sort of thing? I know there is some audit mechanism because of the Guinness Book of World Records attempt.

Rolling back to 2.0.0.14
Posted June 18th, 2008 by PollyMUnfortunately the kind folks at Dohzilla didn't do the responsible thing and make rollbacks readily available after a big update. For those of you wanting to downgrade, it's available via FTP here:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/2.0.0.14
Get it while it's hot before Dohzilla removes the files from their servers.

Most of the downloads made in India are attributed to the US
Posted June 18th, 2008 by suryakiranlMost of the firefox downloads done from India are attributed to the US. The reason being, almost all the Software companies in India have a leased line which connects to the US network. Even our IP addresses are mapped to that domain. So, all the FF3 downloads we do today will be accounted as downloads done in the US.

Problems downloading... Getting Fx2.0.0.14
Posted June 17th, 2008 by mdoraghHi There.
Earlier I managed to get Firefox 3 for my Laptop successfully. I just got home and tried to get it for my desktop, but the En-US download page on Mozilla (that I end up on after clicking "download 3" on World Record Page here at Spread Firefox), only shows Fx2.0.0.14 available at the moment. Firefox 3 has been lost from that page!

Posted June 17th, 2008 by grouchalWhen you have sent out emails to most of the world saying that it will be available on the 17th and you can only provide it 17 hours late - don't you think the whole thing is wrong?
You will only get this record now - because no-one else has the record - not the record you could have had though with a bit of organisation!

Posted June 15th, 2008 by libre fanHello everybody,
How will you be counting the 24 hours of D-Day? Perhaps you should give the time limits in universal time so that we all know when we can download FF? This should have to go on the FF home page, on MozillaZine, etc.

FF2 and FF3 Passes IE
Posted June 12th, 2008 by synyanToday, I've watched my little blog's stats recorded the first time FF2 passes IE7. OK Ok, I know what you guys want to say but considering most of my readers are from China and Australia (where people mostly use IE 7 or even below), this is great! And to make it more comparable, last year IE 7 users outnumbered FF2 users by nearly 70%.

The 17 of June World wide or 24 hours to make a record?
Posted June 12th, 2008 by slavcoSo I suppose that Download Day is in fact only 24 hours, and considering the diffrent time zones somewhere Download day could start at midday or 6pm or what ever. So it will be nice if a table with the larger citiese would be provided so that everyone knows exactly the hour when the creating the record would start.

IE 7 Zoom
Posted June 11th, 2008 by BrianSchmitzDoes anyone know a work-around for the Zoom feature. I currently style for separate browsers using some JS detection, which identifies CSS classes.
Any takers on the Zoom beast?

Where's Singapore in the World Map?
Posted June 10th, 2008 by digigateIt could just be me, but I can't find Singapore anywhere on the world map even though Singaporeans have made up to 4k+ pledges for Download Day.
I've clicked everywhere in the vicinity of Malaysia and Indonesia, but no tiny red dot shows up at all. Some help would be appreciated?

How did you discover FF?
Posted June 10th, 2008 by XERXESThis could be a fun discussion. My question is: By which means did you first hear about FireFox
1. Heard or saw it at a friend's.
2. Came across it on the WWW
3. Got it on a CD
4. Saw it in a magazine.

Taiwan is a province of China
Posted June 9th, 2008 by laukWell, I'm not that politically sensitive. But when I found that Taiwan was originally marked as "Chinese Taibei", but changed to Taiwan as a country because a Hungarian said it should be, I was angry.

Download counter
Posted June 8th, 2008 by Sam93Hi guys. I have a question. On download day, will there be a counter showing the exact amount of downloads that there have been? I would love to see the number as it goes up.
Also, if I had, say RC2, and I updated it via the help menu, would it still count toward the final count?

Mapping projects
Posted June 7th, 2008 by evan137It would be nice to have more incarnations of the map, e.g.
* per capita
* per connection
* per computer
